Orange, a leading operator, has taken on the mission to stay at the forefront of innovation and to support its emergence, in particular by encouraging a design process at the core of its innovation and by taking customer experience into account from the outset of the design process for a product or service.


Set up in September 2009, the Orange Design & User Experience Group brings together an international multi-disciplinary team whose job it is to deliver simpler, “fair” and intuitive services for its customers. It pools the entire Group’s design expertise into a team of some sixty people: sound design, interaction design, interface design, website and mobile site design, product ergonomics, etc., with an original approach focusing on users. Its philosophy is to make things simple, green and enjoyable, through “responsible design” so to provide everyone with tomorrow’s digital services.

Lab’Orange: innovating by co-creating with customers Created seven years ago, lab’Orange is a totally new process for joint innovation. It brings together an active community of over 38,000 customers in France (30% in Paris, 70% in the rest of France), who test Group concepts, devices and innovative offers before anyone else. In this way, Orange gives its customers the opportunity to develop future products and services with it, by testing offers before they are launched commercially and apps that are being developed by Orange or its partners. They do so by responding to surveys about new services or tomorrow’s technologies, by taking part in chats with experts, or by communicating with other community members on forums.
