Ensuring effective control over network performance and increasing speeds seem to represent essential stakes for the Group. With our researchers, we are inventing, developing and standardizing a range of techniques aimed at supporting the deployment of high-performance networks. With more than 300 representatives in European and global standardization organizations, we already benefit from a strong level of influence in this area.

Intellectual property is an integral part of the Group’s innovation strategy. France Telecom-Orange is developing its portfolio, with over 7,000 patents worldwide at the end of 2011. The portfolio’s patents concern technologies, such as coding and digital compression, as well as the content of services provided by the operator. In 2011, the Group filed almost 310 patents
Its vast intellectual heritage, capitalized on through the licensing system, means that it is one of the leading operators both in Europe and globally.
