IP technology (Internet Protocol) is the basic communications  protocol used for sending data on the Internet. IP is now used for all  the data network elements, from users’ computers and phones to  international networks. France Telecom-Orange has rolled out a vast  program enabling its networks and data services that previously used  other technologies to converge towards all-IP solutions, which are  easier to implement and able to evolve in order to address the growth in  uses, while offering new services, such as cloud computing.

In countries where it has a significant presence, investments are being  made in solutions like the IP Multimedia Subsystem (IMS), which   accelerates deployment of more powerful integrated offers. IMS has   already been introduced to provide VoIP for residential customers in   Spain and business customers in France.

One of the latest developments of IP, IPv6, which is essential to  ensure connectivity of billions of devices, is increasingly used in the  Group’s networks. In particular, Orange Business Services offers IPv6  VPN (Virtual Private Network) services since May 2009.
