Born under a digital star, our children soon become masters of the web and true online explorers.
the uncharted territories they navigate can be dangerous - and our kids generally don't see us as legitimate judges of the proper use of blogs, social networks, chats, texting, etc... They easily feel antagonised when we try to set rules.
How does Orange help parents to preserve their peace of mind and guide their children as they take their first steps in the multimedia world, on mobiles, the internet and TV?
What is Orange policy for "child protection on the Internet" and its initiatives to accompany at best parents and educators in controlling and learning good on-line behavior?
Our online child protection policy is guided by three action principles :
- develop awareness and actively promote the responsible use of technology and the Internet with clear information based on the recommendations of specialised institutions and NGO’s
- organise training tailored to parents, teachers and children to promote best practice and utilisation of available tools
- develop parental control tools and offers adapted for young people using digital services
Awareness-raising actions and information:
For several years, the Group and its subsidiaries in Europe has mobilized in favor of child protection, through awareness-raising actions led in every country in partnership with local authorities, specialized associations and school environment...
For example:
- the publication in 2010 of a charter on Children Protection (France)
- the supply in the group shops and websites of guides for parents (Belgium, Spain, France, Rumania, Slovakia, UK)
- emphasis on parental control tools (Spain, France, Poland, Slovakia, Armenia, Rumania)
- the workshop for parents,’ a training initiative organised in Orange stores in France on the theme of online child protection (including setting of parental control and social networks use). More than 130 workshops were organised in 19 French cities. A new programme will be launched in March, 2013
- the creation in Spain of an interactive website (http://navegaseguro.orange.es) intended for parents and educators to exchange information about best practice to ensure a safer Internet for young audiences
- courses on the good uses of the internet in schools (Slovakia)
-
the support for the past two years, of the Safer Internet Day, an event organized by the European network Insafe to promote a safer use of technologies and internet by children and teenagers of the whole world
