As a major partner of the Louvre-Lens museum, Orange is supporting the institution as it develops the way in which it interacts with the public.

As soon as it was opened on December 4, 2012, Orange provided a visitor guide which, for the first time in a museum, is based on a 3D visualization of the galleries. Orange also designed and developed the museum’s official mobile app.

Since 2010, the Orange Labs and Louvre-Lens teams have been part of a working group dedicated to innovation. This collaboration gave rise to the first projects.

  • 3D body movement: an application allowing users to immerse themselves in the museum’s collections, to take possession of the works and to examine them in three dimensions.
  • gesture control: a prototype Android smartphone that uses the complementary nature of 3D and 2D gestures to become a movement-based remote control, allowing users to browse the museum’s collections at will, to examine them in more depth, share them with their community, and get to know them more intimately.
  • 3D tablet: a touchpad linked to vibration and surround sound that enables works to be handled as common objects, to be played with at will, and to be fully appreciated.

Visitors to the Louvre-Lens museum will be invited to participate in this research by regularly testing out new mediation projects.
