Orange supports the book business as it continues its digital development.
As such, Orange is developing an innovative range of services inspired by the Read and Go platform (an e-Reader service for publications, books, comic books), and is experimenting with new reading and writing tools by offering users community-based platforms (Lecteurs.com) and transmedia storytelling (Fanfan2).
In 2009, Orange also launched the French Prix orange du livre chaired by Erik Orsenna, whilst a similar Armenian language prize launched by Orange Armenia in 2011.
Furthermore, Orange initiated the MO3T open distribution project for e-books using the most open model possible, and created a consortium with all players in the chain: telecoms operators, publishers, bookshops, specialist companies, and so on.
Lastly, in partnership with the National Library of France and the Voltaire Foundation, Orange is launching a collection of web- and tablet-enhanced books, with the first publication being a digitally-enhanced version of Voltaire’s Candide.
