vocal music
Listening, taking risks, supporting a creative project, discovering a vocal group
and accompanying it step-by-step in its artistic development until it reaches
its audience, that is the commitment made by the Orange Foundation.
To promote the emergence of talent and share the emotion of music with as many
people as possible, the Foundation has chosen to get involved in this demanding
area of corporate philanthropy.
Since 1987, the Foundation has been supporting the entire vocal musical chain: training,
production, concerts and recording.
It is supporting collective vocal music and therefore encouraging projects that
bring several singers together (choirs, soloist groups, etc.)
It covers the following types of vocal music:
- Classic (medieval, renaissance, baroque, classic, romantic, 20th century and
contemporary music)
- Vocal jazz (blues, scat, free-jazz, gospel)
- World music (traditional music created or arranged by artists from all cultures)
commitment principles
Each year, the Foundation receives nearly 1,000 cultural philanthropy requests,
but is only able to support a hundred or so projects, which means that difficult
choices need to be made.
Drawing on its experience, the Foundation and its selection committee have set
themselves five principles:
- Professionalism: support is given exclusively for projects that are led and
interpreted by professionals.
- Support: the Foundation accompanies projects with a long-term focus, giving
them the time needed to develop, and the partnership may be renewed for up to
five years.
- Fair selection: large or small, national or regional or international, each
project is given the same attention.
- Carefully thought out patronage: the Foundation carefully reviews the total
budget for the project, and limits its support to a maximum of 25% of this budget.
- Agreement: each project supported is covered by a suitable partnership agreement.
