Yves Gauthier appointed Chief Executive Officer of Mobinil

The Boards of Directors of Mobinil Telecom and ECMS announced today the appointment of Yves Gauthier as the new Chief Executive Officer of ECMS (Mobinil) as from 15 November 2011. ECMS, listed on the Egyptian Stock Exchange is one of Egypt’s leading mobile operators and operates under the brand name Mobinil. France Telecom-Orange and Orascom Telecom are its major shareholders,.

Yves Gauthier will replace Hassan Kabbani whose mandate expires in September 2011 and who wishes to pursue other career opportunities outside the Group.

Mobinil will benefit from Yves Gauthier’s long experience in the telecommunications field, both in the enterprise and retail markets, as well as from his proven leadership and extensive knowledge of the industry. Yves Gauthier has spent much of his career within the France Telecom-Orange Group, where he held positions as CEO or COO of various Group subsidiaries in different countries.

Yves Gauthier will take up his position as Mobinil’s new Chief Executive Officer on 15 November 2011. The Board of Directors of ECMS has asked Alex Shalaby, Chairman of ECMS to act as interim CEO during the short period preceding his arrival.

Marc Rennard, Chairman of Mobinil Telecom and Executive Vice President responsible for Operations in Africa, the Middle-East and Asia of France Telecom-Orange declared: “I am very grateful to Hassan for his contribution to the remarkable development of Mobinil, which has increased its customer base from 20 million to 30 million subscribers between 2008 and 2010, doubled its traffic and brought to the Egyptian market innovative services in voice and mobile broadband. I would also like to extend my gratitude to all Mobinil employees for their commitment during the very sensitive period through which the country has passed since the beginning of the year”.
