In Belgium, the group offers fixed line, mobile and internet services through its consolidated subsidiary company Mobistar. At the end of December 2007, Mobistar counted about 3.3 million active customers. Its network covers more than 99% of the Belgian population. Mobistar is quoted on the Brussels stock exchange.
Mobistar was the second operator to enter the Belgian market and held the second largest market share as of December 31, 2006, being the main challenger to the incumbent operator. Currently, Mobistar offers a broad range of both fixed-line and mobile solutions to meet all the needs of the various market segments, from residential customers to major corporations. For the business market, an entire line of solutions that integrates both fixed and mobile lines is targeted for every size of business. Mobistar distributes its services through retail outlets and in more than 140 specialised stores.
Mobistar was the first operator to launch convergent offers for the Belgian market in April 2006. These offers give to customers the benefits of one contact point, one customer service point and one invoice, thanks to a package with mobile and broadband internet access.
On August 27 2006 Mobistar celebrated its 10th birthday.
Innovation : Mobistar was the first operator to launch interactive services via
Bluetooth for people waiting at bus shelters in September 2006.
In May 2007, Mobistar signed an agreement for the take-over of
90 % of the capital of the Luxemburg operator VOXmobile.
