Orange Dominicana's launch in November 2000 was the culmination of two years' preparation. Investment in the country started in May 1999 and the group started building the network later that year. INDOTEL, the local telecommunications regulatory body, granted the operating licence in March 2000.

Since its launch, Orange Dominicana has worked to make its customers' lives easier. The company was the first GSM operator in the Dominican Republic and the fourth in the market. In less than a year, Orange Dominicana became the second largest operator, moving ahead of another operator with almost ten years experience.

Today, more than 1.6 million customers showed their trust in the group which has gained its advantage through innovative products and services, customer service and its speed and flexibility.
