Webby Awards: the 2009 "Web Oscars" winners

Each year the Webby Awards ceremony that began in 1996 rewards the most original creations on the internet in almost 70 categories. The awards ceremony will take place in New York on 8th June.

Orange is the only French company to win a Webby Award, in the best telecoms site category, for its "Balloonacy" competition. Targeting young British people between 16 and 24, Orange organised a virtual balloon race through more than 3,000 internet sites that lasted for 7 days. The web users were able to choose and customise their orange balloon.

The competition drew in more than 40,000 participants.
