April 9, 2010 – Today, on an experimental basis and for an initial six-month period, Paris is welcoming new phone booths in four touristy areas (Montmartre, Champs-Élysées, Le Marais), two residential areas (La Villette, Place d’Italie), two student areas (Saint-Michel, Saint-Germain) and three shopping areas (Haussmann, Montparnasse, Bercy)*, offering a range of new services for users that are more in keeping with contemporary uses.
You will now be able to make a call with perfect quality thanks to VoIP, search for a service near you, check your email and browse the web.
unique and innovative concept
Developed by Orange, this new concept, unique in Europe, enables users to easily browse online thanks to a 17’’ touch screen, with instructions guiding them each step of the way.
The booth’s look has also been rethought. Designed by Patrick Jouin and developed by JCDecaux, the world number one for street furniture, in line with Parisian street furniture, this new object blends aesthetics and user services: a touch screen based on the standards for individuals with impaired mobility and, on one side of the booth, a display listing the services available with the new booth. JCDecaux will also be involved in the upkeep and maintenance in order to guarantee a high quality service.
section for users to “share their views”
