The 31th of December, at 4pm CET, on Frédéric Lodéon’s radio programme
Carrefour de Lodéon on Radio
France Inter, the recording of the closing concert of the French Presidency of the
Council of the European Union, organized by the
Orange Foundation in Strasbourg on December 16 will be broadcast again.
200 young singers from eight European countries have been on stage in Strasbourg
to take part in an unique intercultural musical dialogue.
As a major partner in the European Cultural Season and in support of its Foundation's
policy of corporate philanthropy, Orange is proud to offer this European festival
evening with all its wealth of culture and diversity.
building Europe with music
Based on an idea by the outstanding conductor Claire Gibault, the Orange Foundation
has mobilised its vocal music know-how to bring together the Slovak Philharmonic
Orchestra, the Italian singer soloist Anna Caterina Antonacci, the French viola
artist Arnaud Thorette, as well as 200 children from the nine best European vocal
ensembles.
The idea was to create the season’s crowning musical event for the closing ceremony
of the French Presidency of the Council of the European Union.
Berlioz, the most European of French musicians, was a natural choice for this
closing concert broadcast live on Mezzo TV in 39 countries and online on orange.fr.
"music above all…"
For the past 20 years, the Orange Foundation has contributed to developing the
practice of collective vocal music. It supports projects in various countries
to share music with audiences who rarely have access to it. The Foundation is
often the first corporate sponsor of little known artists and choirs, helping
them on the road to recognition. Some of our “protégés” even won France’s top
awards: Victoires de la Musique, Diapason d'Or, Choc du monde de la Musique, etc.
In the coming months, building on this success as a discoverer of talent and
creator of productive relationships, the Foundation aims to develop partnerships
beyond France’s borders. Music, after all, is a universal language.
