mobile banking by Orange and PlaNet Finance in Africa and the Middle-East

In Africa and the Middle-East, mobile banking services are dedicated to rural, remote populations with low incomes. It makes it possible for them to have access to financial services while offering them the opportunity to save money, pay their bills, or get a microcredit.
A billion people have a bank account, while 3 billion have a mobile phone. In 2008, Orange, faithfully following its CSR policy, co-developed a mobile banking service with PlaNet Finance, an international, solidarity-based organisation aiming at fighting against poverty while backing microfinance development.
