Orange is at Glastonbury

Orange UK is pleased to announce that for the 11th year it will be back at Glastonbury festival which will take place at Worthy Farm, Pilton, Somerset, from 24th - 28th June as the Official Communications Partner and has lined up some exciting initiatives to wow festival fans.

Before the launch of the festival, for those not lucky enough to have got their hands on tickets, Orange’s Spot the Bull competition has returned for a 3rd year. Orange distributed 44 tickets between 26th May – 12th June, amongst all those who guessed where Desmond, the GPS tagged bull, was at 3pm each day. This year for the very first time Spot the Bull went mobile.

This year Orange UK  is setting out to capture the real Glastonbury experience hour by hour this year in an ambitious communal blog based on stories, pictures and videos uploaded live by festival-goers from their mobile phones.

Back for 2009 is the highly successful and updated Orange GlastoNav, a downloadable mobile application providing the ultimate interactive guide to Glastonbury. Last year saw over 15,000 festival goers download the application. This year a brand new feature means festival goers will also be sent alerts for money-can’t-buy ‘side of stage’ competitions to see some of the top bands playing this years festival.

Orange have also be unveiled a compact mobile phone charger prototype, the Orange Power Pump, a lightweight unit powered by sheer legwork that will ensure festival goers at Glastonbury this summer never lose contact with their friends on site.
The Orange Power Pump, created by GotWind, the renewable energy experts, harnesses kinetic energy from an air bed foot pump, a standard piece of camping equipment, which in turn drives a turbine within the Power Pump. This energy is then converted into an electrical current which can re-charge your mobile phone.

And for festival goers needing to kick back, relax and recharge their batteries, the Orange Chill ‘n’ Charge tent is the place to go. As per last year,  Orane will provide 600 mobile phone charging points, free internet access and live music. This year they have confirmed performances from the The Maccabees, Dan Black, Marina & The Diamonds, the Noisettes and many more. The Orange Chill ‘n’ Charge tent will be open on Thursday at 5pm-10pm and Friday through Sunday from10am-10pm.

Another reason to go to the chill ‘n’ charge tent is that Orange is pleased to announce their exclusive collaboration with fashionable pop singer, V V Brown. Not only will she be performing in the tent but together, they have created an Orange poncho must-have festival essential that will keep you dry and stylish throughout the weekend.
The limited edition V V Brown designed poncho will be available for free to the first 100 people who request one from the Orange Chill ‘n’ Charge tent on the Saturday of this year’s festival.
