Orange celebrates 10 years of mud, music and memories at Glastonbury

Orange this year is celebrating a 10 year partnership with Glastonbury, the largest and most renowned music festival in the world. The partnership began in 1997 when Glastonbury required a mobile network to install masts giving mobile phone owners a better experience whilst at the festival. The following year Orange became the Official Communications Partner.

Here you are part of the prestigious line-up for this year: Massive Attack, Panic At The Disco, Groove Armada, Goldfrapp, The Feeling, James Blunt, The Raconteurs, The Fratellis, The Gossip, The Young Knives, Lightspeed Champion, Vampire Weekend, Spritualized…

The main attraction from Orange at Glastonbury has always been the Chill n’ Charge Tent. This year’s tent will be bigger and better than ever before. The tent has evolved into an 800 square metre multi-media tent with an expected 70,000 festival goers set to pass through to recharge their mobile phones at one of 600 charging points they can also use one of 32 broadband points.

Following on from the popularity of Peaches Geldof  video diaries in 2007, This year, singer, actress and presenter, Kelly Osbourne. Kelly will be filming video diaries on her Orange mobile phone from Glastonbury which will be uploaded to Orange UK portal during the festival.

In 2008 Orange will unveil an evolution from last years mobile wind charger as well as a new trial designed to capture kinetic energy created by dancing, to recharge your mobile phone. And this year, Orange introduces ‘phone with the wind
phone with the wind ?

Losing your friends at the festival and missing your favourite act may soon be a thing of the past as Orange launch a downloadable java application complete with interactive map to help you keep in touch with your mates during Glastonbury.

Spot The Bull, the online competition to win tickets to Glastonbury by guessing where the bull will be standing in the field at 3pm each day, is back for 2008 and is going to be the biggest Glastonbury ticket give away ever.
