In Jordan, Her Majesty Queen Rania Al-Abdullah recognized the France Telecom
Orange Group for its support of the
Madrasati initiative launched by Her Majesty in April 2008.
Divided into five stages, the Madrasati initiative aims to renovate the infrastructure
of at least 500 public schools across the Kingdom, which suffer primarily from
lack of financial and technical resources.
Jordan Telecom Group and the Orange Foundation, the France Telecom Orange Group
corporate foundation, contributed to renovating some of the country's most needy
schools, helping to create a safe and better learning environment for students.
Jordan Telecom Group CEO Mickael Ghossein, along with other Madrasati supporters, received an award from Her Majesty in recognition of the company's support.
Expressing his gratitude and delight for receiving the award, Ghossein said: "Her
Majesty's encouragement of the public and private sectors and civil society entities
is the real reason behind the success of this initiative. Madrasati truly addresses
the key issues of the educational sector in Jordan. We take immense pride in being
part of this socially responsible effort."
In the first phase of the initiative, the Group helped renovate four schools
spread over the Kingdom, which were Izz el-Deen al-Qassam primary school, Queen
Alia School for the Deaf, and the Rajm al-Shami al-Gharbi primary and secondary
schools. The Group also supported these schools' educational programs, teaching
and learning methods.
