July 24, 2009 - RockCorps was created by seven friends in the US in 2003 to affect social change and act as the bridge between communities in need and the people who want to make them better. Since that time, RockCorps has combined the power of music, community and volunteerism to expose people to simple ways they can proactively contribute to their communities.
RockCorps is much more than a series of volunteer events and concerts; it is a way to connect young people with dynamic charities already doing great work in the local community.
To date over 40,000 people have directly participated in a RockCorps programme around the world…and millions more have heard the message that “volunteering is cool”.
Since 2005, RockCorps has been running an innovative concept: You get a ticket only by volunteering 4 hours of your time to a local partner association.
With Orange and RockCorps sharing the same values, the Orange-RockCorps partnership has been very obvious. That’s why last year in the UK, RockCorps, in partnership with Orange, created the first "Orange RockCorps" programme. This edition, which brought together 5,000 volunteers donating a total of 20,000 hours of their time across 41 organisations, was highlighted by an exceptional concert at London's Albert Hall.
RockCorps arrives in France
The first project set up in France was organized with the French Red Cross in the Val de Marne. The rapper SEFYU joined the Orange RockCorps volunteers to participate. Sefyu, France's rising rap star, and the phenomenal Busta Rhymes, will perform at Paris Zenith on 2 October for Orange RockCorps volunteers!
They’re will be the two leading top-class artists at a concert that money can't buy! The concert programme includes at least 4 national and international feature performers... with something for everyone thanks to an eclectic mixture of musical genres including Pop, Rock, R&B and HipHop. There's only one way to get a ticket: Agree to be a volunteer!
