Orange is supporting the exceptional exhibition on the fifties and sixties’ French
film maker Jacques Tati hosted by the
Cinémathèque Française (French Films Archive) from 8 April to 2 August 2009. "Tati is the father of
modernity as well as a vision of the future. How obvious for Orange to link up with the Cinémathèque Française to pay homage
to this cinematic genius", asserts Serge Toubiana, its General Manager.
With three shorts and six feature films, Jacques Tati established himself as
one of the most original and inventive of comic film directors. His utterly modern
work drew its brilliantly humorous inspiration from the areas of communications
and technology.
To accompany the event, Orange cinema series (the French pay TV channels) is
putting together a Jacques Tati special series of programmes on the Orange cine
geants channel.
There will be a competition game on the orange.fr website for the general public
to win tickets to the exhibition and 400 tickets will also be distributed to Orange
employees.
These initiatives honouring Jacques Tati as a monument of the French cinema,
underline Orange’s commitment to the 7th Art.
