From dry land to unforgiving waters Orange has provided innovative multi-media
technology and medical assistance tools for sailing for more than 10 years.
It is through Oranges partnerships covering the biggest nautical events and the
sporting exploits of exceptional sailors, that Orange has become one of the principal
players in this discipline.
Strengthened by experience, Orange gave new impetus to its commitment in 2006
by partnering the French Sailing Federation and the network of French Sailing
Schools (EFV) in order to support the practise of this sport on an everyday basis
and particularly by young people.
This hands on approach, led in the first year alone, to the supply of more than
1,000 sails to the EFV and a number of educational tools.
In 2008, Orange increased its efforts by offering the network of schools the
biggest ever co-funding arrangement with more than 1,500 sails, 2,000 items of
equipment (Lycra, trapeze belts) and a new instructor’s kit.
Orange also makes its services and technology available to enthusiasts by providing
access to exclusive content on great nautical events and giving them the possibility
of sharing their exploits and emotions through
blogs via the EFV schools.
Through new media partnerships, Orange also wishes to enable all enthusiasts
to follow the great sailing races at all times thanks to the setting up of services
on Orange TV, the internet with Orange.fr or on mobiles with Orange World.
In 2008, Orange became the new media partner of the AG2R Transatlantic race (April
2008), of the Brest 2008 meet (11th to 17th July 2008) and was also present on
the famous Cape to Istanbul race (the last leg of the Figaro Solo Race, which
took place in September 2008).
