In response to changes in the international, and consequently, national economy,
France has decided to implement a large-scale industrial policy: the promotion of key industrial competitiveness factors grouped in competitiveness
centres. The innovative capacity of R&D is in the forefront and is one of the
main challenges of the competitiveness centre policy.
It was therefore natural that France Telecom, with over 3,800 researchers in
eight centres throughout France, should become heavily involved in 7 competitiveness
centre projects which were all labelled and either worldwide, with a worldwide
purpose or on a national or regional scale:
worldwide
Minalogic, Miniaturised Intelligent Solutions, Rhône Alpes;
Secure Communications Solutions, PACA;
System@tic, Software and Complex Systems in Ile-de-France;
with a worldwide purpose
Images and Networks, Brittany;
IMVN, Image, Multimedia and Digital Life, Ile-de-France;
with a national and regional purpose
Area Risk and Vulnerability Management, PACA;
Secure Electronic Transactions, Normandy.
France Telecom is a partner in seven of the seventeen competitiveness centres
in the field of ICT, alongside the sector's major players, research and training
centres and innovative SMEs.
