objectives and scope of centre
The goal of the Minalogic (Micro NAnotechnologies et LOgiciel Grenoble-Isère Compétitivité) centre is to build an
international-scale centre for miniature smart chips
thanks to the pooling of resources from industry, research and training in micro
nanotechnologies and software technologies.
The areas for research, development and innovation are micro and nanotechnologies
and on-chip software technologies, extended to MEMS and designed for major societal
challenges such as energy efficiency, mobility and connectivity. These areas require
the development of complex systems at electronic component level which also involves
a technological leap into the highly specialised field of embedded software. In
terms of applications, the centre focuses on miniaturised (and communicating)
objects of the future, particularly targeted at domestic, personal and professional
spheres, telecommunications and the field of healthcare and energy management.
France Telecom's involvement in Minalogic
France Telecom is particularly involved in projects in the field of healthcare,
platforms for multimedia terminals, applications based on large-scale networks
of communicating objects, as well as ambient intelligence in the home and the
professional sphere.
Participation in this centre includes France Telecom's work concerning terminals
in the widest sense of the term. It participates in the development of embedded
software for all types of terminal (OS, Middleware, etc.), radio that can be adapted
to the connectivity environment (software radio), ad hoc communication networks
and sensor networks as well as usage tests linked to the acceptability of these
new technologies for future services.
partners
Some other industrial partners include: Schneider Electrique (leader) ST Microelectronics
(co-leader), Philips, Minatec, Bull, Biomérieux, Thalès, Xerox, Cap Gemini Ernest
and Young,.....and numerous SMEs such asTeamLog, Silicomp, Probayes, etc. .
Several academic Research partners are also involved in this centre, including
CEA-LETI, CNRS via its numerous laboratories (IMAG, TIMA, etc.), INRIA, Université
Grenoble 1, Université Grenoble 2, INP Grenoble.
