The wholesale activity is a specific activity that is relatively unknown by the general public because its customers are operators. This activity targets the wholesale voice and data traffic market (or free-floating traffic) and represents the portion of traffic purchased from operators to be transferred outside France. In 2010, the wholesale market accounted for some 50% of the global international voice market, estimated to be 220 billion minutes.

Orange’s presence in both the retail and wholesale markets means it can develop wholesale solutions that are particularly well adapted to the needs of local retail operators. It also allows Orange to constantly adapt its wholesale solutions to its customers’ needs. Recognized as one of the leaders of the wholesale market, France Telecom-Orange has more than one thousand customers which include fixed-line and mobile operators and Internet access and content providers.

Orange’s Wholesale Solutions activity is based on a major long distance network infrastructure, with direct routes to 370 operators worldwide for voice traffic, and offers a broad range of destinations (over 900) and innovative solutions on the international market. Orange offers turnkey solutions or customized services for voice, mobile, Internet and bandwidth. Dedicated wholesale teams on three continents, combined with leading-edge networks and R&D investments allow the Group to offer high quality services.

In 2010, France Telecom-Orange launched Roaming Global eXchange, a solution that simplifies roaming agreements between mobile operators. In this way, they are able to access a huge number of destinations by connecting up to just one platform.
