what do we mean?
FTTx fibre-optic access can extend the available ADSL service offer to include upstream and downstream very high speed (up to 100 Mbps), with improved response time. There are different types of FTTx optical connection architectures: FTTB (fibre to the building), FTTH (fibre to the home) and FTTC (fibre to the curb).

what’s the coverage?
In France, FTTH rollout started in 2007 in several major cities (Paris and the Hauts-de-Seine, Lille, Marseille, Poitiers, Toulouse). The goals are ambitious: investment of 2 billion euros to guarantee coverage for 10 million homes by 2015 and 15 million homes, representing 60% of all homes, by 2020, across 3,600 districts.
In addition, France Telecom-Orange has been rolling out an FTTH network in Slovakia since 2006.
