The Foundation has also helped publish the practical guide produced by the ANLCI, "Le benevolat, un engagement de qualite" ("Voluntary work, a special commitment"). This guide provides information for associations using volunteers and encourages the development of their skills.
These two activities reflect the ongoing commitment of the Orange Foundation to helping adults who have difficulty reading and writing, and who lack basic skills.
Since 2005, over 160 projects have received support in France, 30% of which have been in rural areas. They involve 5 400 learners and over 2 000 volunteers who have been trained to assist them. For instance, the Renaître Association ("to be born again") in Saint Etienne received computer hardware and educational softwares designed for the people who attend workshops providing basic education.
