The Louvre inaugurated its galerie tactile yesterday with the exhibition “Animals as a Symbol of Power”, with the support of the Orange Foundation. This educational exhibition provides a new approach for visitors with a selection of moulds of famous works of art from the museum thereby making this art accessible in particular for the visually impaired who can now get a feeling for the size and substance of the works.
Captions with samples of the material of the original sculptures, signs with text that stands out, as well as Braille and large type are also used.

The support provided by the Orange Foundation is in line with its commitment to promote greater access to culture for the visually and hearing impaired.

Museums and exhibitions. The Orange Foundation supports several museums and exhibition spaces which undertake projects to create permanent and temporary exhibitions accessible to the visually and hearing impaired (National Library of France, Parc de la Villette, Palais de la Découverte, etc.) The Orange Foundation also provided its support to the creation of a multimedia audio guide, enabling the hearing or visually impaired to have autonomous access to the cultural and scientific displays. This involves content in French sign language for the deaf and an audio description for visually impaired visitors.
