France's Minister of Culture and Communication awards the "Grand Mécène" medal to the Orange Foundation

Didier Lombard, Chairman and CEO of the France Telecom Group, received yesterday the "Grand Mécène du Ministère de la Culture et de la Communication" medal in recognition of the corporate philanthropic initiatives conducted by the Orange Foundation, of which he is the chairman. This distinction marks the nation's gratitude to a company for its action to promote France's cultural heritage or extend the reach of French culture.

The Minister of Culture and Communication, Ms Christine Albanel, stressed the “leading role of companies in the development of corporate philanthropy in France, in favour of great causes of general interest”. The  Minister highlighted the commitment of the Orange Foundation “to culture and especially music, as a remarkable way to create links between people”.

Didier Lombard declared: "I am thrilled to receive this Grand Mécène medal in recognition of the 20 year commitment of the Orange Foundation's to facilitate exchanges between all and make the world more accessible. I am especially proud of the Foundation’s significant role in vocal music. For years, the Orange Foundation has promoted young talented artists and enabled them to earn recognition by a wide audience.”
