- Orange sport channel broadcasts live NBA games and extensive highlights
- The best moments from the NBA are available on-demand every week on Orange’s IPTV, Internet and mobile TV services in France
- Orange is boosting its sports content offer in 6 countries in the Africa/Middle East region, with NBA VOD on the Internet and on mobile
Orange announced today a new multiyear agreement with the National Basketball Association (NBA) to broadcast live and recorded programmes, beginning 15 January 2009, on the Orange sport (formerly Orange football) channel, with a selection of weekly NBA games and highlights throughout the 2008-2009 NBA season.
Orange sport broadcasts up to 4 NBA games every week throughout the remainder of the regular season and select games during the NBA Playoffs. Additionally the channel will provide fans with weekly access to a 52-minute weekly programme featuring NBA highlights, NBA 360°, and another 22-minute programme replaying the league’s best action, NBA Action.
Orange is also offering a selection of videos on demand on the TV, the Internet and mobile phones, including weekly reviews and historic matches from the NBA archives.
The NBA agreement also covers emerging countries where Orange is introducing sports content, such as Mali, Cameroon, Senegal, Mauritius, Kenya and Jordan. Orange subscribers in these regions will have VOD access to the best action from the NBA and highlights from the previous week's matches on the Internet and on their mobile phones.
The Orange sport channel, formerly Orange football, was launched on 9 August 2008 to offer Orange customers the big Saturday evening League 1 match live, as well as VODs and magazines. The programme schedule has been greatly enhanced and extended with the arrival of the French Handball Championship, The Rugby League World Cup, The Top 14 (French rugby league championship) in VOD, the Italian football championship (Serie A), The Freestyle and Snowboarding World Cups and now the NBA. Orange sport is available on channel 70 on Orange TV (ADSL and satellite).
