Live on Radio Classique and MEZZO: The Orange Foundation’s 18th Nuit de la Voix, Tuesday 23 June at 8.30pm

Paris, May 29, 2009

The 18th Nuit de la Voix will be broadcast live on Radio Classique and TV channel Mezzo at 8.30 pm on Tuesday 23 June, and will also be heard on Orange Liveradio

Each year, the Orange Foundation organises a private musical evening called Nuit de la Voix (A night of vocal music), giving various artists and ensembles sponsored by the Foundation the chance to perform on stage in Paris. This evening is an artistic platform for the young artists and ensembles who take part to perform in front of an audience of musical professionals.
In previous years, young ensembles who were still relatively unknown at the time were able to sign contracts with recording studios, festival directors or concert halls, after performing at these events. These include Concert d’Astrée, Accentus, Matheus, l’Arpeggiata, and more recently the Cercle de l’Harmonie, Pygmalion…

“La Nuit de la Voix is an essential event: it gives young groups of musicians the opportunity to present themselves under the best circumstances, to show the originality of their repertoire, and to reveal their true personalities. Performing side by side with other ensembles is often a very enriching experience. Many professionals often hear the choirs and ensembles who perform there for the first time. Accentus ant the young Parisian choir which I direct had the opportunity of being booked at their very beginnings. It is a true stepping stone, as well as recognition.” Laurence Equilbey, Musical Director of Accentus and the “jeune chœur de paris”, first participated in the Nuit de la Voix in 1996.

On 23 June 2009, five ensembles will appear on stage at the Cirque d’Hiver in Paris for a musical premiere.
-    CREA from Aulnay sous Bois directed by Didier Grojsman with extracts from the operas “Marco Polo et la princesse de Chine” by Isabelle Aboulker and “Le Tour du Monde en 80 jours” by Louis Dunoyer de Segonzac,
-    Ensemble Aquilon represented by Sébastien Mahieuxe with works by Campra and Charpentier,
-    Les Cris de Paris directed by Geoffroy Jourdain with extracts from the show “La la la, Opéra en chansons” directed by Benjamin Lazar,
-    Les Paladins directed by Jérôme Correas with extracts from Grétry’s “Fausse Magie”, accompanied by Magali Léger, Anna Marie Panzarella and Alain Buet,
-    Ensemble Contraste directed by Arnaud Thorette and Johan Farjot shall perform musical interludes based on the tango.

This year again, vocal music is the theme, with a programme of opera, baroque and contemporary music, tango and songs arranged for choirs. Almost 100 artists will enjoy the magic of the Cirque d'Hiver for an evening of theatrical music.
The event has been organised with the support of Philippe Maillard Production.
