a comprehensive offer for contactless mobile services
As part of the widescale deployment of contactless mobile services in Europe, on May 21, 2010 Orange is launching the Cityzi Pass which gives access to a whole world of practical everyday services in the city Nice area, south of France.
Orange’s Cityzi pass is an optimum combination enabling the customer to use totally secure contactless mobile services on a daily basis:
- A very attractive mobile service: the Samsung Player One Cityzi, hugely popular because of its touch-screen and elegant design, is now the top-seller in its non-NFC version. It is available to purchase in France with a starting price of 1 euro with an Origami or Smart tariff plans.
- A free Cityzi pass enabling the maximum number of customers to participate in this trial: until June 30, 2011, customers with an Orange voice mobile subscription living in the Nice area can subscribe to the Cityzi pass enabling them to use their mobile to buy and validate tickets on public transport, pay in shops and accumulate loyalty points. The Cityzi pass is free and does not require any commitment, and also includes mobile internet connections triggered by Cityzi* usage (purchase of transport tickets, reading apps...).
- Dedicated customer service: Orange has set up a dedicated customer service department to coordinate with suppliers and provide optimum support to customers in the acquisition and usage of these new contactless services.

a totally new way of accessing multimedia content

Mobile apps are “smart” – they are a real shortcut to (personalised or not) multimedia content and services allowing by a single move to make  phone call or to  send a pre-programmed SMS.

As a promote NFC(Near Field Communication) usage, Orange is offering the first 1,000 Cityzi pass customers a set of tags to Orange portal services (news, weather, TV schedules...) and daily content (events, cinema programs, bus timetables etc). So the Orange customer can find out even before leaving home, using a pre-programmed app, what time there will be a bus at the nearest stop on any chosen route.
What’s more, Orange has supported Connecthings to develop of the website www.ciblesperso.com to offer mobile users, whichever operator they are with, a ready-made solution to produce their own personalised tags.

Orange is strongly committed to NFC

Orange is committed to the widescale deployment of NFC in France. Working alongside with other market operators, suppliers of services and manufacturers to generate solutions that are truly multi-service (payment, loyalty, transport, reading tags…), the launch in Nice is rehearsal for the national deployment that Orange is planning for 2011.
Taking its cue from the determination shown by Jean-Paul Huchon, Chairman of STIF (the public transport authority for the greater Paris area) to launch a mobile contactless ticketing service for urban transport in Ile-de-France, and the general enthusiasm of manufacturers for mobile contactless services as expressed by the French Forum of Contactless Mobile Services, the European Association Payez Mobile (AEPM) and the French Association for Contactless Mobile, Orange is preparing to contribute actively, based on the results from Nice, to the dynamics of national deployment of contactless mobile in 2011.
Orange expects to equip several hundred thousand customers with Cityzi mobile to work with hundreds of local and national services in several major cities and urban areas in France.

From 21st May, customers in Nice can get kitted out in the 7 FranceTelecom/Orange stores that are promoting this new offer.
