France Telecom Marine always alert The fleet of Group's cable ships intervenes as soon as an incident is discerned on one of the numerous underwater cables assuring intercontinental links. So, on December 19th, 2008, when a break was determined on three major underwater cables linking Europe with the zone Asia/Middle East zone, France Telecom Marine immediately mobilised one of its two service ships in the Mediterranean Sea: the "Raymon Croze" set off in 24 hours to go to perform the repairs along Sicily. In the meantime, in order to assure the continuity of the communications, the "business-to-business" traffic between Europe and Asia was provisionally re-routed via the United States. see our flashcard: a broken cable... red alert!
