New technologies can reduce energy consumption and limit the need for business
trips, replacing certain “physical” equipment with “virtual” services. This “dematerialisation”
of the economy can help reduce our ecological footprint. However, communications
equipment still has an impact on the environment, through its manufacture, its
component parts, the energy it uses to operate, and how it is disposed of at the
end of its life.
Although we do not directly manufacture products, the environmental performance
of products connected with our services is very important for us. We have launched
a project with our suppliers to provide our clients with detailed information
on the environmental impacts of products.
Working with various manufacturers, we apply eco-design methods to minimize the
energy and materials used to manufacture products and to increase their ability
to be recycled. We are already seeing the results; the new generation of Liveboxes benefited
from such an approach.
