Pappalardo, ADEME's President, gives the prize to Stéphane le Masson from Orange Labs Reducing and improving energy use in order to help minimize climate change represents a priority for the France Telecom Group. This commitment, reflected in a Group-wide program, has just been recognized.

As each year, the French environment and energy efficiency agency (ADEME) and its partner, the “Industries et Technologies” magazine, have organized their clean and efficient technology awards in order to showcase companies that have innovated to reduce their power consumption or pollution.
In these 15th awards, three companies - including the France Telecom Group – came in joint first in the clean and efficient technology category.

Indeed, the Lannion research and development (Côte d'Armor), part of the international Orange Labs network, has developed and patented an optimized ventilation air-conditioning system, without actually using any external cold production (air-conditioning). More specifically, it harnesses the cool nighttime air from outside, combined with the building’s thermal inertia, to cool the facilities. One year of operations has shown a reduction in energy consumption by a factor of six to 10 compared with the use of a cooling unit-based air-conditioning system. The cost ranges from 6,000 to 16,000 euros for rooms from 40 to 100 square meters. France Telecom has rolled out this technology at 400 of its sites.
Yet another action confirming the Group’s strong focus on the possible environmental impacts of its activities”.
