France Telecom Group reinforces commitment to a safe and healthy workplace.
Health & Safety management systems of Orange Spain and Mobinil in Egypt now certified
according to OHSAS standard.
The France Telecom Group protects the health of its staff and contractors around
the world and ensures their safety in the workplace. This commitment is clearly
stated in the Group’s Corporate Health & Safety policy, signed by CEO Didier Lombard
in 2005.
In order to translate this engagement into daily work activities, each company
in the Group has been working to develop professional safety and health management
in accordance with its specific business activities, local context and existing
regulatory framework. A ‘health and safety management system’ refers to a structured
set of policies, procedures and practices which control occupational risks and
hazards.
Two group entities, namely Orange Spain and Mobinil (Egypt), have even gone a
step further and recently obtained the OHSAS 18001certification for their health
& safety management system.
OHSAS 18000 (‘Occupational Health & Safety Assessment Series’) is the internationally
recognised and referenced standard in this area and is compatible with ISO 9000
(quality management) and ISO 14000 (environmental management). OHSAS also follows
a plan-do-check-act cycle which emphasizes continuous improvement.
