Rzeczpospolita Internetowa (“The republic of Internet”) – all-Poland grant programme
for village municipalities – was awarded as “The best broadband undertaking” in
the “Broad Band 2007” competition (“Szeroki Pas 2007”), organised by Computerworld
weekly magazine. The programme has been fulfilled in two years by the TP Group
Foundation together with the United Nations.
Rzeczpospolita Internetowa is the largest programme, which helps rural areas,
and is financed by private funds. In two years time TP Group has helped 170 village
municipalities to fulfil Internet programmes, which solve specific problems of
local communities associated with education, promoting the region and propagating
the idea of integration and tolerance. We allocated 5.3 mln PLN to fund them.
The grants were used by schools, public libraries, and non-governmental organisations
functioning in rural areas. There was also created the Village Municipality League
for the participants of the programme, which helps to find the new opportunities
of development.
