At the end of its use in France and the United Kingdom, Livebox 1.1 was the object of a reuse program. Its new version, Livebox 1.2, takes advantage of the eco-design step and has a notably reduced environmental impact.
perpetuate the usage of Livebox
Rather than to destroy the products no longer used in these two countries, we think that it is preferable to introduce them to markets where they are always used. Therefore, we studied the best reprocessing and reconfiguration solutions for Livebox 1.1, and have assured their transfer to our subsidiaries in Switzerland, Belgium, and soon in Spain and Poland.
a triple interest
The plan established for Livebox 1.1 allows us to reduce our purchases, to save resources and to decrease the quantities end-of-life equipment all at the same time.
Livebox 1.2 : eco-design and analysis
The eco-design work led between Orange and Sagem Communications has allowed improvements for Livebox 1.2.
An analysis of the life cycle of Livebox 1.2, carried out in 2008, showed that 75% of energy consumption came from the usage phase. This study allowed lines of thinking to be defined in order to reduce this figure, such as low consumption modes or a Livebox archetype which automatically deactivates the interfaces which are not in use. The components of this new Livebox are recyclable, as well as the packaging which is also recycled: the packing uses 98% recycled paper. For instance and thanks to its WiFi button, you can now turn the WiFi signal on and off at your convenience, while continuing to enjoy other Livebox services outside of the WiFi connection., Switching off the new Livebox at night or during holidays helps reduce electricity consumption up to 30% compared to the previous model.
