We know that to grow and meet market demand for innovations we will need to:
step up the pace adapting skills. From 2005 to 2008, 10,000 people will be refocusing on priority
professions.
Strengthen our support systems to help our people fulfill personal development
objectives. Act: a new way to see the future. Our act program (Anticipation and Competencies
for the Transformation) promotes
management involvement in employee relations and tailors HR solutions to the specific
needs of each member of staff.
It reaches our people in France, Poland and the UK and will soon be in Spain,
other major European markets as well as in Africa, the Middle-East and Asia.
clear visibility over opportunities for each profession
Transparent information is essential for each member of staff to be able move
toward our priority professions. Our intranets now have a map of the six areas,
23 fields and 395 professions identified within the Group, as well as the priority
requirements for each. Staff can check out the overall trend for changes in their
field, as well as the career development paths open to them within this field.
To give all members of staff the means to build their own development projects
in line with the Group’s strategy, we are gradually rolling out:
a personal development commitment, formalizing employees’ professional path, their commitment
to developing their
skills, and the company’s support.
advice centers to help employees who want to improve their performance, skills and prospects.
So far, our 17 advice centers have assisted more than 15,000 employees.
strengthening the management team’s commitment
The implementation of the act: program calls for strong support from managers.
To help them communicate, get their teams on board and develop them in the best
interest of the Group have set up management schools in Poland, the UK and France.
The development of a management school in Spain is in progress.
major training effort
The act: program has meant a major increase in our training program. France Telecom
SA increased the number of training hours provided by more than 25% over 2006.
In the rest of the Group, this increase came out at over 11%. More than 80% of
staff have been trained at France Telecom SA, and close to two thirds in the rest
of the Group.
In 2006 alone, with this stronger focus on training, investments are up by nearly
5% for France Telecom SA and 13% for the rest of the Group. In light of these
achievements, we are fully delivering
on our objective to increase our overall training effort (in total number of
hours) by 25% for 2006 to 2008.
