Charles-Henri Filippi is a French national, born in 1952. He has been Chairman of Citigroup France since 1 January 2011.
He joined French bank CCF (Crédit commercial de France) in 1987 following several years in the French civil service and government departments. He became Chief Executive Officer of CCF France in 1998, and was then appointed to the senior management of HSBC in 2001. At that time, he was entrusted with overseeing the Group’s Corporate and Institutional Banking business.
In March 2004 he was named as the new Chairman and Chief Executive Officer of HSBC France. He then served as Executive Chairman from August 2007 to 31 December 2008. He was also a Senior Advisor at CVC Capital Partners France until 31 December 2010 and a Partner at Weinberg Capital Partners until 31 December 2011. Charles-Henri Filippi is the founder of asset management companies Octagones and Alfina, serving as Chairman of both companies between 2008 and 2012.
