Alioune Ndiaye

Chief Executive Officer of Orange Middle East and Africa

Alioune Ndiaye studied finance and management at Télécom Sud Paris and then completed his postgraduate degree in telecommunications management at Université Paris-Dauphine before starting his career in industry at Pechiney. He joined Sonatel in 1988 to head up the audit and control function, contributing to the company’s privatisation. It was a rich experience which led him to become Chief Financial Officer, a position he held for 10 years.

His career took an important turn in 2002 when he joined Ikatel in Mali as CEO, which became Orange Mali a few months later. He stayed in this role for 10 years, proud to have made the company the most profitable Orange Group company.

In October 2012 he rejoined Sonatel as CEO Sonatel Group and Chairman of the Board of Directors for Sonatel Mobiles Orange Mali, Orange Bissau, Orange Sierra Leone and the Sonatel Foundation. In 2017, the Sonatel Group generated EUR 1.6 billion of the 5 billion across the MEA zone.

Effective 2 May 2018, Alioune takes the role of CEO for Orange Middle East and Africa.
