Orange Tunisia networks

After being the first operator to launch 3G in Tunisia, Orange confirms its position as the mobile internet market leader by launching 4G on March 30, 2016, with the country's widest coverage.

From a technical perspective, 2015 was marked by the deployment of over 130 radio sites to reach a total of 1,490 sites at the end of December 2015. Orange Tunisia covers more than 98% of the population with 2G services and 90% with 3G services.

Launched in the past few years, the widescale fiber deployment plan to connect the radio sites in dense areas made it possible to end the year with a total of 330 fiber-enabled sites and new metropolitan loops in several major cities across Tunisia: Grand Tunis, Sousse and Monastir.

The fiber deployment program will continue moving forward in 2016, with projects launched at the end of 2015 in other regions: Bizerte, Kasserine and Jendouba.

The Didon submarine cable has been brought online, making it possible to benefit from an additional 10 Gbps of bandwidth, securing international links and thus improving the quality of services provided for Orange Tunisia customers.

Several major upgrades have also been rolled out on the network core architectures and service platforms and these will continue in 2016 with 4G’s expected deployment, in which Orange Tunisia will play a key role. These scalable and secure architectures will make it possible to launch innovative products, services and promotional offers.
