Orange and sport

Sport, a universal language that everyone loves.

Some of our most intense emotional experiences come from watching sporting events, so it makes sense for Orange to bring customers closer to all the thrills and spills both inside and outside the stadium.

From football in Africa to all 21 stages of the Tour de France, we use our capabilities to help fans watch, share and participate in sport globally and on a local level.

The African Cup of Nations

The African Cup of Nations (AFCON) is the biggest and brightest football tournament across Africa and the Middle East. Through our partnership with Confédération Africaine de Football (since 2008 and until 2024), we get fans closer to all the fancy footwork and glorious goals through exclusive content, match tickets, grassroots initiatives and working with National teams all the way to the stadium.> Find out more

In 2011, Orange signed its first partnership with UEFA to become an official sponsor and Technology Provider for UEFA EURO 2012. In 2016, we extended the partnership to cover our entire footprint and serve up a full package of rewards, bonuses, discounts and prizes including UEFA merchandise, 3,000 match tickets and VIP money-can’t-buy packages.

Partnering with the City of Paris, we also gave fans control of one of the world’s most iconic landmarks. Every match night, the nation whose fans showed the most support on social media proudly lit the Eiffel Tower in a spectacular lightshow of their country’s colours. More than 20 million posts from fans around the world were recorded.

Tour de France

A proud partner of this great sporting event for the past 20 years, Orange provides the organisers and the media with high-performance, tailor-made telecommunications solutions for the entire duration of the Tour de France to ensure that the event runs smoothly and that it can be broadcast worldwide.

Our ambition is to bring cycling enthusiasts all the passion and enjoyment of one of the world’s most watched sports competitions. Orange customers in France can access exclusive content on their mobile phones and tablets.

Games of Change

For many years, we have organised or partnered with grassroots football tournaments across our African markets. We have identified two major challenges that local fans are concerned about, the lack of football equipment (from kit to pitches) and the lack of recycling facilities, particularly for single-use plastic bottles.

Through the Games of Change programme (launched in Cameroon in 2018 and extending to other African countries in 2019), Orange supports fans who want to make a change – for the good of the game and the community. The more recyclable plastic that fans bring to Orange recycling facilities at sponsored tournaments, the more their team wins. The plastic is turned into football items and even pitches for the community.
