Initiated in 1993 by the UN, World Water Day aims at raising awareness about water-related issues and getting people, politicians and companies to do their part when it comes to that precious resource. In 2017, the running theme was “Why Waste Water?”
Once again, many celebrities have decided to take part in the “festivities”. What better way to spread the word than posting on their socials a picture of them forming a “W” (for “Water”) with their hands?
Lady Gaga, Jimmy Fallon, Cara Delevingne, Adele, Bono, Emma Stone, Jennifer Lawrence and many others have urged their communities not to waste water but instead protect what is probably the most important resource for mankind.
Today, 1 person out of 3 doesn’t have access to clean water. In Sub-Saharan Africa, the average water consumption (all uses combined), per day and per person is 15 liters when it reaches 250 liters in the USA, Australia and Japan.
