Elisabeth Moss : after her Emmy win, she is THE one to follow!
In this day and age, being a TV star is just as prestigious as having top-billing for the biggest blockbusters, and as evidenced by her Emmy win, it is something we’re sure actress Elisabeth Moss agrees with.
Remember, already a few years ago it was in Mad Men that most people first laid eyes on her. She played Peggy Olson, the secretary of Don Drapper who, over the course of the series, becomes a real advertising machine.
Today, she’s the star of two other series highly appreciated by critics: Top Of The Lake and the Emmy-winning The Handmaid's Tale.
When you get a closer look, it seems like the common point between all these series is the feminist and badass component of the characters she plays.
In Mad Men, Peggy stands out because of her strong personality in a world dominated by men, in the dystopia The Handmaid's Tale, she stands up against a government that reduces the role of women to that of surrogates, and she clearly is the main attraction in Top Of The Lake where she plays a detective who investigates the disappearance of a 12 year-old girl.
When quizzed about her artistic choices, this is what Moss had to say: “I’m a feminist – feminism is as important to me as breathing or sleeping. Women are incredibly complex, strong, vulnerable, smart people. I always try to play human beings who I can see myself in.”
A committed actress will always be a beautiful thing to see. No wonder she is having so much success. One thing is for sure, it’s only the beginning for Ms. Elisabeth Moss, mark our words
