Orange, France’s best mobile network

The results of the 2015 ARCEP1 survey on “The Quality of Voice and Data Services of Mobile Network Operators in Metropolitan France” confirm that Orange leads the way with 153 of the 210 criteria above average. This study measures the quality of the most popular mobile services (calls, SMS, data transfer, internet, video).

Commenting following the publication of the results of this survey, Stéphane Richard, Chairman and Chief Executive Officer of Orange, said: “The networks are at the heart of Orange’s strategy, just as they are at the heart of our customers’ expectations. I am delighted with these excellent results. Once again, our expertise has been clearly recognized. We are demonstrating that our investment efforts, coupled with the expertise of Orange’s technical teams, pay off and allow us to offer even richer connectivity to our customers, whether they are at home, at work, or on the move.”

Enhanced mobile coverage over the coming years

The Group strengthened its leadership in 4G coverage, which is now available to more than 76.5% of the population in France, with 17 major cities, including Paris, covered by 4G+.
The Orange network already provides 3G+ coverage along 92% of eleven of France’s main motorways (A1, A4, A6, A7, A8, A9, A10, A11, A13, A61 and A62). In June, Orange strengthened the deployment of its mobile network on six of these motorways (A1, A6, A9, A10, A61 and A62), which now have 98% 3G+ coverage.

Moreover, to support customers wherever they are, Orange covers more than 200 seaside resorts and 55 ski resorts in order to extend the experience, including in holiday destinations.
In 2014, in order to offer the best connectivity to its customers no matter where they are, the Group devoted 14.5% of its revenue to investments in France, of which 58% was invested in the networks.
The Group’s investment strategy focuses on improving the customer experience. Orange plans, especially in France, to develop its indoor coverage, motorway and public transport coverage programs, and to establish a new coverage plan for white spots.

Finally, in order to meet the objectives of the Essentials2020 strategic plan, which was presented on March 17, Orange will invest more than EUR 15 billion in its networks between 2015 and 2018. This will include, for example, further network modernization with all-IP, and preparing for the launch of 5G.

On a daily basis, 27,000 employees in France work on the quality of the network and contribute to the realization of this goal.
All of the data is available at the website and the full survey is available on the ARCEP website:
