Orange, official partner and exclusive telecoms and new media partner of the 70th Cannes Film Festival

Orange is set to bring this experience to life at the 70th Cannes Film Festival, with selected films co-produced by Orange Studio and pre-purchased by OCS, technical support for the festival, co-production of the Festival TV channel, co-development of the official app, and special Cannes programmes on Orange Video on Demand and OCS.  
Launched over fifteen years ago, this special partnership with one of the biggest events in film is testament to Orange's ongoing commitment to cinema.

Six feature films in the different selections

Stay connected on La Croisette

For the first time, Boulevard de la Croisette will have a Wi-Fi connection. From the Palais du Festival to Hotel Martinez, 40 Wi-Fi transmitters will enable festival-goers to share their experience whenever they please, with up to 5,000 simultaneous connections. The Wi-Fi portal will also offer festival-goers the chance to win cinema tickets, OCS subscriptions, as well as the unique experience of attending the screening of a film in the official selection.

Discover new experiences with a 360° view of the red carpet and virtual reality  

For the first time Orange will offer access to a new and unique experience with 360° coverage of the red carpet on its Twitter, Facebook and YouTube accounts.
For the first time Orange is partnering with the NEXT event at the Marché du Film. With its extensive involvement in virtual reality, Orange will organise virtual reality projections at the Palais des Festivals with content produced by the leading VR studios and producers: Baobab: Invasion! and Asteroids! Innerspace: The 5th Sleep, WEVR: Wevr Showreel, Honkytonk /les produits frais : Heritage.  This VR content will be available on the Orange VR Experience platform, a pilot launched in December 2016 in partnership with Wevr.
On 19 May, Orange and Beaumarchais-SACD will announce the winners of La Bourse #RealiteVirtuelle, a prize for virtual reality creators.

Orange is getting ready for a busy Cannes schedule:

  • The best of Orange's know-how at the service of the Festival
    Through its partnership, Orange provides the Festival with communication solutions, including the "Orange Wifi Café”. This 300 m² space in the Palais des Festivals allows accredited journalists and photographers to work in a cosy and friendly environment. They will be able to connect to Orange Wi-Fi for free between 9am and 11pm.
  • Festival TV to follow the Festival 24/7 on YouTube, Dailymotion and Orange TV
    For the 9th year, Orange will co-produce the official Festival TV coverage alongside Canal + and the Cannes Film Festival. “TV Festival" will give French and international viewers the chance to follow all the latest news from La Croisette live. It will also be broadcast live on Dailymotion and YouTube.
    Orange will offer Orange TV subscribers a special interactive service for Cannes on channel 29 (TV Festival, VOD, OCS, exclusive interviews, etc.), and will broadcast a special daily report from Cannes, produced on-site by OCS: Cannes, Séries & Cie.
  • The official app of the Cannes Film Festival co-published by Orange
    Orange and the Cannes Film Festival worked together to design the official app so users can experience all the excitement of the Festival in real-time. This free application, available in English and in French, is aimed at two target audiences: the general public and festival-goers. It is compatible with iOS and Android mobiles and tablets.
  • Cannes Film Festival specials from OCS 100% cinema series and Orange VOD
    In May, OCS, the 100% cinema and series package, is proud to invite viewers to its festival of cinema. By way of paying homage to the silver screen, OCS is programming a prestigious selection of prize-winning films from previous editions of the Festival. Like every year, the weekly Ciné, Séries & Cie becomes a daily programme for the duration of the Festival - Cannes, Séries & Cie. Stay up to date with the latest from the Festival, every day at 8.20pm on OCS Max. 
    For this new edition, Video on Demand will again offer exceptional programming featuring three main selections:
    -    "Cannes' most unlikely official selections" from 4-16 May: Inglourious Basterds, Sin City, Shrek…
    -    "Last year in Cannes, this year on VOD" 17-31 May: Juste la fin du monde, Paterson, Moi, Daniel Blake…
    -    "Palmes d’Or" 17-31 May: Pulp Fiction, Le Pianiste, The Tree of life…

These three special selections are available on TV, PC / Mac, mobile devices and tablets.
