eCAC40 2016 : Orange is one of France’s Digital Champions!

This year, Orange once again forms part of the elite circle of CAC 40 companies that are considered the most advanced in terms of digital transformation. The 2016 edition of the eCAC40 ranking, carried out by Les Échos and digital expert Gilles Babinet, ranks Orange in 2nd place as the company that has most successfully managed the transition to digital.

The eCAC40 awards assess the digital competitiveness of companies in the CAC 40 and analyze the best practices of major French groups in terms of adapting to our digital age.
After being ranked in seventh place in 2015, this year Orange was ranked in 2nd place, a vast improvement on last year. Engie, Orange, and Société Générale are the three CAC 40 companies that are considered to be most advanced this year in terms of their digital transformation.

Ranking methodology

The 32 participating CAC companies completed a questionnaire covering a broad spectrum of digital transformation issues, which were grouped into five themes:

  • digital culture of employees and management,
  • nature of relationships with the start-up and research universe,
  • online presence,
  • mastery of technology,
  • cybersecurity.

The ratings assigned to each criterion are weighted according to the business sector and competitive environment of each company. The responses provided by companies are even more detailed than in previous years, enabling the judges to provide a ranking in which there are no ties this year.
This year has seen new issues emerge, such as the ability to develop a multi-channel strategy or the influence of the Board of Directors in the digital transformation.
