What I love most about my job is the direct impact cybersecurity has on our daily lives and how our work helps safeguard critical systems—from financial transactions to essential services like electricity and water. Cybersecurity is fundamental to the functioning of modern society, and knowing that my role contributes to protecting these systems and the people is incredibly motivating. Knowing that we are people, experts protecting people is extremely rewarding Additionally, I’m passionate about the opportunity to innovate and help shape the future of cybersecurity through strategic partnerships and new technologies, ensuring that Orange Cyberdefense is always ahead of the curve.

Although I’m not on the frontline like our incident responders or consultants, I still face significant pressure to ensure Orange Cyberdefense stays ahead in terms of services and technological advancements. We have to make sure our customers can rely on us to be innovative and proactive, in addressing new cybersecurity threats. To manage this pressure , I focus on collaboration—both within our teams and with our global partners. It’s also reassuring to receive external recognition, such as industry analysts placing us as a leader in our field.

What advice would you give to young professionals wishing to enter the cybersecurity sector?

First, I’d say follow your passion—cybersecurity is a diverse field, and you’ll be happiest and most successful if you align your career with what excites you. Cybersecurity isn’t just about hacking or technical roles; there are opportunities in consulting, sales, marketing, and more. Gaining practical experience is crucial; it helps you understand the industry beyond the clichés of dark rooms and hoodies. The field is vast, with opportunities to shape security in areas from infrastructure to creative problem-solving, so jump in, get hands-on experience, and build connections!

What values or principles guide your approach to cybersecurity?

My approach is very outcomes-focused. Everything we do at Orange Cyberdefense revolves around delivering the best possible security and business results for our customers. It’s not just about selling products or services; it’s about making sure those solutions genuinely address the challenges clients face—whether that’s mitigating financial risk, ensuring compliance, or protecting against emerging cyber threats. I believe in acting as a strategic partner, prioritising long-term value and contributing to a safer digital society, rather than just focusing on short-term profits.

Why did you choose Orange?

Before joining Orange, I worked as a market analyst and often interacted with Orange as they were a client of mine. I saw firsthand their ambition to innovate and grow in the cybersecurity space. When Orange Cyberdefense entered the UK market, it was an exciting opportunity to be part of something new, combining the agility of a startup with the backing of a global powerhouse. I was drawn to the chance to build something from the ground up while benefiting from the extensive resources and expertise Orange offers. After almost four years here, I still find the mission engaging and look forward to seeing how we continue to evolve.
