ChangeNow 2021: a look back at the highlights of the event

The fourth edition of the ChangeNOW international summit, of which Orange is a partner, brought together thousands of players from all over the world to present their environmental innovations during this year’s virtual event at the end of May 2021. Here are the highlights from three inspiring days during which 1,000 eco-solutions were presented.

This year, ChangeNOW brought together 55,000 from 167 different countries on 27 – 29 May. The event was exclusively online, offering more than 50 sessions attracting more than 600,000 views, all still available in replay on the event platform for the next four months.

Innovative approaches to tomorrow’s world

Over the course of the show, 500 speakers presented 1,000 concrete innovations covering recycling, the circular economy, health, food and even energy, to meet some of today’s major ecological challenges. Two really summed up the spirit of the event: Wind my Roof, an urban, compact and soundproof wind turbine that can be installed on any roof; and Proteme, a biodegradable and edible coating for fruit and vegetables to reduce plastic packaging while extending the protected product’s shelf life by several weeks.

20 of Orange’s start-up partners also took part and were able to join us on our virtual stand to introduce their solutions to the public in three main areas: health, the environment and digital inclusion.

Many Orange presentations

Entrepreneurs, politicians, investors and influencers spoke during multiple workshops and roundtables. We firmly believe that digital technology has a central role to play in tackling the climate challenge and are delighted to partner the event and share our perspective.

Stéphane Richard, Chairman and CEO of the Group, took part in the “New Leadership for New Models” event on Thursday 27May, alongside several other influential CEOs. Together, they explained how they are trying to change their business models to make them more sustainable.

Contributing to the ecological transition is a duty but also an incredible opportunity for Orange, and for our industry in a broader sense. I am very optimistic and excited about the changes this will bring to telecoms as well as to society as a whole.
