• As the number of civilian drones continues to grow and malicious uses multiply, Orange Business is launching Orange Drone Guardian, an innovative, scalable Counter-Unmanned Aircraft System (CUAS) solution delivered in an “as a Service” model.

  • Less than a year after the creation of the Orange Business Defense and Security division, the launch of Orange Drone Guardian delivers on the division's ambition to leverage the full breadth of Orange Group's digital infrastructure and expertise to roll out new generation sovereign solutions.

Orange Drone Guardian detects, identifies and classifies intrusive drones in low-altitude airspace across France, with the ability to extend coverage to other European countries. It addresses the security needs of operators of vital importance (OIV), operators of essential services (OES), major event organizers, and public institutions responsible for protecting critical infrastructure.

This pioneering and secure solution is built on a combination of assets that leverage the Orange's unique telco and digital infrastructure assets and trusted operating model capabilities

  • Sovereign infrastructure operated by Orange Business, including:
    • secured, resilient connectivity fully managed by Orange across France, from network through operations
    • a trusted cloud platform, Cloud Avenue SecNum, qualified SecNumCloud 3.2 by ANSSI and hosted in Orange Business' sustainable data center in Grenoble, France
    • a secure operations center, located in France, staffed by experts skilled in consolidating and processing field data in real time
  • A nationwide footprint of 19,700 sites operated by TOTEM, Orange's TowerCo, which provides its rooftop and tower assets as strategic high points for detection sensors. This extensive territorial coverage extends the reach of surveillance and improves detection quality, without requiring each customer to deploy and maintain its own infrastructure.
  • Advanced detection technology (sensors and Command & Control “C2” software) capable of detecting, identifying and classifying drones, including in complex and interference-prone urban environments.

Orange Drone Guardian is a turnkey anti-drone solution, enhanced by AI and designed to evolve over time to integrate additional sensors and new 5G radio-sensing technologies.

Offered on a subscription basis, it marks a major shift in how organizations approach counter-drone operations through:

  • Ease of access: organizations receive real-time detection information without heavy upfront capital expenditure
  • Operational agility: the solution adapts to each customer's specific context, such as industrial facilities, logistics platforms, ports, airports, major events, dense urban areas, and more
  • Technological scalability: the open architecture of Orange Drone Guardian makes it possible to integrate additional software modules and new types of sensors, in particular radio-sensing capabilities enabled by 5G networks
  • Innovation: the use of AI and digital twins will further enrich the modelling and analysis of sensor data over time

Nassima Auvray, Director of Defense & Security, said: “I am proud to announce the launch of Orange Drone Guardian, the first offer from the Defense & Security division. This solution is a first in France and Europe. It addresses our customers' challenges in protecting sensitive sites with sovereign infrastructure, a scalable and open model, and all delivered 'as a service'. The full strength of this solution lies in our ability to innovate and in our multidisciplinary expertise.”
