Orange Cyberdefense, Europe's leading cybersecurity services provider, announces its partnership with Mistral AI, Europe's leading artificial intelligence company, granting it early access to a variant of Mistral Large 4, optimized for advanced cybersecurity workflows.
This partnership will leverage Orange Cyberdefense's cybersecurity expertise to expand, using Mistral Large 4, the range of use cases across the entire cybersecurity value chain. The work will focus in particular on penetration testing of information systems, as well as post-incident analysis and investigation.
Hugues Foulon, CEO of Orange Cyberdefense, commented “As threats become ever faster, industrialized and now automated, defense must operate at a different scale. Volume, speed, trust: these are the three challenges facing cybersecurity in the age of AI. With Mistral AI, we are building European cyber AI, trained by our experts and operated under their control. By combining the power of AI, the expertise of our teams and our Cyber Threat Intelligence, we are accelerating our response so that we can protect more broadly, more quickly and with trusted European technology.”
A shared vision echoed by Timothée Lacroix, co-founder and CTO of Mistral AI, who says: “We are proud to partner with Orange Cyberdefense, one of Europe's cybersecurity leaders, and to bring them Mistral Large 4, a model with frontier capabilities in cyber. Together, we share one goal: giving European organizations a sovereign, trusted AI solution to defend themselves, built and operated in Europe.”
Concrete cyber use cases, under human oversight
In practice, AI systems powered by Mistral Large 4 will gradually be integrated into selected operational services delivered by Orange Cyberdefense to its customers. The initial work will focus on priority use cases: penetration testing and technical audits, to explore a wider range of attack scenarios; investigation and incident response, to accelerate the analysis of traces and the reconstruction of attacks.
These use cases are governed by strict controls: access management, traceability, model security testing and human oversight, with all critical actions remaining under the responsibility of experts. Field feedback will help improve the model for cyber use cases and build augmented, sovereign and auditable defensive capabilities.
A European infrastructure for trusted AI
The partnership reflects a European approach to artificial intelligence, with technology developed by Mistral AI and infrastructure operated in its own European data centers. Orange Cyberdefense will rely on computing capacities located in Europe to run models dedicated to cybersecurity operations. This control over the technology and operational environment is a guarantee of sovereignty and an essential factor for organizations wishing to use AI in sensitive contexts.
Orange Cyberdefense takes a resolutely agnostic approach, selecting the best-in-class solutions on the market when they address our customers' needs in terms of data protection, regulatory compliance and resilience. This freedom of choice enables Orange Cyberdefense to offer seamless services tailored to each organization, whatever the circumstances.
This partnership with Mistral AI strengthens our role as a trusted partner. By integrating a leading European model deployed on European infrastructure, we provide AI-augmented cybersecurity solutions that are high-performing and sovereign.
